The organisation provides participatory activities in the community working with Schools, Community Centres, and Youth Clubs, to conduct and facilitate workshops, classes for children, young people, elderly and vulnerable individuals. ACD-Arts also offers entertainment and performance accompanied by creative blend of live African and western instruments. This helps to especially empower the youth and vulnerable to improve their self-esteem. It has music and dance group that specialises in contemporary and African traditional music especially from east Africa this group performs hand in hand with corporate companies for a good causes like raising cancer awareness, AIDS awareness, women and girl child empowerment, among others.
Since 2008 ACD-arts has held over 40 school trainings, 53 community workshops, and 18 public events showcases with a reach of over 7000 people. We have been able to train individuals in dance, choreography, dance fitness, African instruments, spoken word, poetry, singing, creative drumming, mixing music, stage performance, health, nutrition, and unity. These trainings have helped promote employability through skills development, cultural conservation through awareness and appreciation, promote health and wellbeing through fitness and health training, promote recreation and fun, reduce the impact of trauma from some individuals and promote integration. The participants of our workshops and trainings appreciate and report to benefit from them. Therefore moving forward we hope to expand our activities so that we have a wider reach and larger number of beneficiaries.
